WEEKLY THEMES

Week 1: Dance Around the World
July 11-15, 2022
During Week 1 of camp, PMDI will take dancers on a
journey around the world to explore diverse dance styles
and cultural traditions. We will explore different ways
in which humanity uses dance to communicate thoughts,
ideas, emotions, history and to celebrate the passages of life.
Week 2: Dance As Protest
July 18-22, 2022
During Week 2 dancers will explore how to use dance
as a form of protest. They will take a deep dive
into how to analyze their thoughts, feelings and
emotions in response to world events and their
own personal experiences. Dancers will then begin
the creative process of using dance to convey perspective.
Week 3: The Art of Choreography
July 25-29, 2022
During Week 3 dancers will learn what it means to be an
artist with a voice! Over the course of a week we will tap
into each dancer’s creative minds and teach them
the art of dance composition. They will learn
how to convert thoughts, feelings and emotions into
gesture, movement and dance to tell
a story and speak their personal truths.
